LETTER of PROTEST
FREE WATER IN CARGO

VESSEL   : M/T ..........                  LOAD PORT  : KALUNDBORG
VOY.NO    : 3/01                          STS WITH M/T ISOLA MAGENTA
DATE        : 23nd JUNE 2001

TO             : WHOM IT MAY CONSERN

Gentlemen,
On completion of loading at STS with M/T ISOLA MAGENTA, we checked our loaded ship’s cargo tanks for free water. No free water has been obtained. Maybe possible water are present, but not yet settled.

As the cargo tanks and pipelines were empty and dry prior to loading, the above quantity of water must have originated from your shore tanks and pipelines.

In the course of  the forthcoming voyage, it is likely that further quantities will settle out and I therefore reserve the right to carry out further water detection procedures in order to establish the total quantity of water in the cargo.

On behalf of my Owners/Charterers and Recievers, I note protest with you and hold you fully responsible for all the consequences resulting from the existance of the water loaded with and in the cargo.

Please acknowledge reciept of this protest by signing in the space provided below.
       Yours faithfully,

                                                                                      Master of M/T..........

ACKNOWLEDGED BY
